I suspect that this album has been deliberately engineered to remove the fairweather fans that jumped on the bandwagon with OK Computer. Most of the songs are production-led pieces, similar to Blur's 13, which I guess would be nigh-on impossible to reproduce accurately on stage without major compromises or complete re-thinks or backing tapes or extra musicians (OK, it IS possible). The Radiohead chaps have been quoted as saying that they want to break the cycle of album, tour, album, tour and this could be the perfect excuse - a few short gigs in a tent, buy our new ep in six month's time, visit our website and seeya next year!
In summary then, not as immediate as previous albums, slightly unlistenable in places (National Anthem), interesting change in direction but not as ground-breaking as expected. It certainly moves them away from the Travis/Coldplay/Muse view of what Radiohead sound like and it'll be interesting to see who jumps on this electronica bandwagon next.
